The model is used as a framework upon which we can hang useful facts, exploiting the inheritance hierarchy to decorate the model sparsely. An example of the use of extrinsics is a drug interaction model produced as part of PEN PAD [22]. A taxonomy of drugs was defined, and using extrinsic information, known interactions between different classes of drugs were recorded.
